about · alien web design
One person builds it,
and stands behind it.
Alien Web Design is Angus Lewington. Eighteen years in IT, founder of Alien IT Solutions, and the person who designs your pages, writes the front end, configures the server they run on, and does the search work afterwards. There is no account manager between you and the build, because there is nobody to be an account manager for.
who you are dealing with
A builder, end to end.
Most web studios stop at the browser. Angus started underneath it. Eighteen years of managed IT means the network, the server, the DNS, the mail and the certificate are the same job as the website, done by the same person, so when one of them breaks at nine at night you ring the person who set it up rather than opening a ticket with a host who will blame the developer.
From the cable to the code
Networks and Wi-Fi, servers and storage, hosting, internet and VoIP, CCTV, cloud, and long-range wireless and IoT for rural sites. Then the website on top, written by hand, by the same person who set up what it runs on.
The company behind the studio
Alien Web Design is the web studio inside Alien IT Solutions, ABN 32 385 519 280, a Sydney IT, networks and automation business. Your website is not a side project of a marketing agency; it is one service of an IT company that already runs infrastructure.
Big-project standards, small-business prices
Angus has delivered infrastructure on multi-billion-dollar projects he cannot name. The same standard goes into a one-person business: built to last, not built to sell.
how the work gets done
Six rules,
and none of them are posters.
These are the reasons clients keep calling back, and the reason a quick sale sometimes gets turned down.
- Keep your word.
If it is going to get done, it gets done. If something changes, you hear it here first rather than finding out yourself. A handshake should still mean something.
- Fairness, plainly.
Honest pricing, honest scope, and no charging for the privilege of not understanding what you are paying for. The price ladder is published rather than quoted differently depending on how the meeting went.
- Evidence, not hand-waving.
If a thing works, there is a measurement that shows why. If it broke, there is a record of what happened and how it was fixed. Every number on this site comes from Google Search Console, Google Analytics or the client's own system, and links to the page it came from.
- Persistence.
The hard problems are the ones worth solving. A fault does not get abandoned because it is awkward; it gets chased down. Several of the guides on this site exist because a fault took days to find and nobody had written the answer down.
- Built for the long run.
The right answer is the one that is still right next year. Sites are built on foundations that will still be maintainable when the current trend has moved on, and you own the code, the domain and the hosting from day one.
- Whole-stack ownership.
One person who understands the cable, the cloud and the code means fewer hand-offs, fewer excuses, and a clear line of accountability when something needs fixing at nine at night.

the studio
Design, build, host, secure,
rank. One team.
Alien Web Design runs more than fifty sites across Alien IT Solutions, client work and our own products. That matters for one reason: the studio is not guessing about hosting, DNS, mail or security, because it operates all of them every day. When your contact form stops delivering, or a certificate expires, or Google stops indexing a page, the diagnosis happens here rather than being forwarded to a host.

The guides on this site are written by Angus from jobs actually done: what breaks in a DNS move, why a redirect stops passing rankings, what a Cloudflare setting really does. They are the working notes, published, so you can judge the standard before you pay for it. If you want the process rather than the person, here is how we work.
good to know
Questions people ask first.
Who actually builds the website?
Angus Lewington. Not a sales rep who hands your job to an offshore production line. The person you talk to is the person who designs the pages, writes the front end, configures the server, sets up the DNS and does the SEO afterwards.
How long have you been doing this?
Eighteen years in IT. Alien Web Design is the web studio inside Alien IT Solutions, ABN 32 385 519 280, so the web work sits on top of nearly two decades of networks, servers, hosting, VoIP, CCTV and cloud.
Where are you based, and do you work outside Sydney?
Sydney. Most work is Sydney, Penrith, Parramatta and the Blue Mountains, but the client sites on this page run from Mosman to the Blue Mountains and out to regional New South Wales. The work does not require us to be in the same room.
Who writes the guides on this site?
Angus writes them, from jobs actually done. The DNS, Cloudflare, WordPress and SEO guides here are written up from real client work rather than researched from other people's articles.
Who owns the site when it is finished?
You do. The client owns the code, the domain and the hosting account. There is no lock-in and nothing is held hostage if you decide to move.
